OPTIONAL EXTRAS
The Tyrol Cycling Holidays offer a rich and diverse journey through one of Europe’s most picturesque regions, beginning in Innsbruck, Austria’s vibrant “Capital of the Alps,” and guiding you across the scenic Reschenpass to the sunny side of the Alps – the Italian South Tyrol.
The valleys of the Inn and Adige rivers will lead you through vineyards and past fortresses, castles, and medieval ruins. The region itself is every cyclist’s dream, with its mild spring climate, blooming orchards in summer, and the charm of grape harvests in autumn.
A good fitness level is recommended for the ascent to Reschenpass, but the effort is surely repaid with its amazing panorama.
Along the way, you will explore historic cities like Innsbruck, Merano, and Bolzano, each blending medieval charm with modern attractions, such as Innsbruck’s iconic Golden Roof, Merano’s Mediterranean-style arcades, and Bolzano’s famous Ötzi Museum.
You can also treat yourself to a swim in Kalternsee, one of the warmest lakes in the Alps. Additionally, the culinary delights are not to be ignored either, from the hearty spinach dumplings to the classic apple strudel, perfectly paired with indigenous wines of the Alto Adige Region.
Carefully designed for a hassle-free experience, the tour includes a fully mapped route with detailed directions, prearranged accommodations, convenient luggage transfers, and our reliable customer support.
This journey provides a fantastic opportunity to fully experience Tyrol, exploring its stunning landscapes from the Austrian side to its southern reaches in Italy.
Top Places You'll See
From natural wonders to authentic local culture, the route is packed with memorable sights—these are our absolute favorites.

Innsbruck & Nordkette
Innsbruck, the “Capital of the Alps,” blends a medieval old town with direct access to high mountain trails. The Nordkette cable car carries visitors from the city center straight to alpine panoramas in under 20 minutes. For cyclists, Innsbruck is both a cultural stop and a launchpad for exploring valleys and climbs.

Ötztal & Stubai Valleys
These valleys are known for steep roads, high passes, and events like the Ötztaler Radmarathon, one of Europe’s toughest amateur races. The routes thread through villages, waterfalls, and mountain forests before opening to panoramic ridges. They are a natural choice for cyclists looking to push their limits while taking in Tyrol’s landscapes.

Timmelsjoch Pass
Straddling the Austrian-Italian border, Timmelsjoch climbs to 2,509 meters with a reputation as one of the toughest but most scenic rides in the Alps. Known as the “secret passage” to South Tyrol, the route combines rugged alpine landscapes with cultural crossover between Austria and Italy.

Merano
Merano is a historic spa town in South Tyrol, known for its mild microclimate and mix of Alpine and Mediterranean landscapes. The town became a fashionable resort in the 19th century, attracting visitors such as Empress Elisabeth of Austria. Its landmarks include the Kurhaus, botanical gardens at Trauttmansdorff Castle, and promenades lined with palm trees and vineyards. Today, Merano combines cultural heritage with wellness traditions in a scenic mountain setting.

Bolzano
Bolzano, the capital of South Tyrol, sits at the meeting point of Italian and Austrian cultures. The city is best known for the South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology, where the 5,300-year-old mummy Ötzi the Iceman is displayed. Gothic landmarks such as the Bolzano Cathedral blend with arcaded streets and lively markets in the old town. Surrounded by the Dolomites and vineyards, Bolzano is both a cultural and geographic gateway to northern Italy.

We had a wonderful cycling trip, starting in Trieste, then onto Slovenia and Croatia. Before the trip, Klemen was extremely patient with our many questions and addressed our concerns very satisfactorily- even changing the original bike route to meet our needs. The bikes we used ( e-bikes) were in great condition, and easy to use. The hotels were very satisfactory- and included big breakfasts to start our days. The towns we visited were charming. All in all- a first class experience!!

Great trip: excellent customer service, great route, excellent hotel stays during the tour. The bike rental company that they use is the best I've ever experienced in Europe. I am even planning to buy the same bike for myself at home that I had on the trip! We had this service also book our stay for after the tour, and that is the only thing I would do differently next time, since the hotel for the several days after the tour was not very good, had mediocre service and not a good location. But for the tour, I would definitely recommend DenmarkBikeTours.
Exploring Tuscany on a self-guided cycling holiday was pure joy. The carefully curated routes took me through vineyards, olive groves, and picturesque towns like Siena and Pienza. I loved being able to stop whenever I wanted to soak in the views or enjoy a cappuccino in a quaint café. The GPS and route notes were spot-on, and the logistics, from luggage transfers to charming accommodations, were seamless. Tuscany’s beauty is best experienced on two wheels, and the freedom to set my own pace made it unforgettable.
